Maya Jones is a talented folk and soul singer, songwriter and cellist for hire for live music appearances at weddings and ceremonies, anniversaries and corporate functions. She has a great versatility to her sound that makes her suited to a wide range of occasions and always manages to serve up intimate and involving shows that really engage audiences. A 2012 MOBO Award nominee, Maya Jones was a participant in the London Symphony Orchestra’s Discovery Panufnik Young Composers Scheme and has been an artist in residence at London’s Southbank Centre after graduating from Trinity College of Music in London.Since then she has gone on to amass many great accolades that have seen her play with the best of the best at a range of cultural events around the globe.
As well as performing on BBC Radio on shows like Woman’s Hour, she has played with a wide range of internationalist acts and has worked with Akala and Riz MC, co-writing songs for their latest releases. On top of this she has toured the world with Sitarist Anoushka Shankar, has composed music for 4Girls4Harps and is composing for the London Symphony Orchestra Brass Ensemble’s Japanese Tour. She has been commissioned to work on many great projects for festival around the world and A truly virtuoso performer who is as good at singing as she is writing music for others and playing in the live environment, Maya Jones is a very real talent within the musical world and as such is capable of truly memorable live shows that light up any occasion.
